General Conditions: I could hardly believe it when I woke up and saw some white stuff out in my front yard. Then I remembered it's actually winter and this stuff called "snow" does fall from the sky. Up in the mountains, about 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulated overnight.
24hr Snow:
Wind is calm to light from the west. Temperatures have dropped into the mid teens.
The dusting of new snow will have little effect on avalanche conditions today. By far, the biggest safety concern out there is hitting underlying rocks, logs and stumps.
The dusting of snow may improve riding conditions slightly. Ultimately, this low-density snow will quickly turn into faceted grains over the next week and add to the weak layers of snow that already exist.
