Forecast for the Skyline Area Mountains

Overall, the avalanche danger is LOW on the Manti Skyline. Human-triggered avalanches are unlikely. The biggest threat is hitting underlying rocks, logs, and stumps in the existing very shallow snowpack.

Weather and Snow

General Conditions: Temperatures really cooled off overnight with lows down into the low single digits. Wind is moderate in speed from the northwest with some stronger gusts along the higher ridges. Chris Magerl got out on Saturday to look at the dusting of fresh snow. DETAILS HERE Over-the-snow travel remains ok considering the overall shallow amount of total snow we have.

Mountain Weather: It'll be clear and cold today, with temperatures barely reaching the teens. Wind from the north looks like it'll increase in speed with moderate to strong speeds along the high ridges. Temperatures start to moderate Monday and the weather looks benign through the week.

Description

There really isn't anything pertinent to discuss about current avalanche problems. The snowpack is mostly stable right now. I have been getting into steep, north-facing avalanche paths for snow assessment, and I have felt quite confident that I will not trigger an avalanche.
