Forecast for the Provo Area Mountains
Monday morning, November 2, 2026
Yesterday's storm delivered very wet, heavy snow, with the rain/snow line hovering around 9,000 feet. This led to a widespread avalanche cycle of natural and human-triggered wet avalanches. We observed natural avalanches on all aspects above roughly 9,000 feet.
Today, expect both wet and dry avalanches on steep slopes on all aspects above 9,000 feet. Both natural and human-triggered avalanches remain a concern. Avoid steep slopes and be especially cautious in avalanche terrain steeper than 30 degrees.
Remember, early-season avalanches can have serious consequences, even when they're relatively small. Getting caught and carried through rocks, stumps, and downed trees can turn a short ride into a nasty one.
If you're heading into the backcountry, carry a beacon, shovel, and probe, know how to use them, and choose your terrain carefully.
