Avalanche Advisory
Advisory: Skyline Area Mountains Issued by Craig Gordon for Sunday - November 16, 2014 - 7:15am
special announcement

Yesterday's storm delivered about 6" of snow to the upper elevations surrounding the Skyline. In many locations, this is the first layer of the season's snow pack. There really isn't enough snow for much winter recreation yet, but there is plenty to do to get prepared for the season. The entire UAC staff is back to work full time, and below are some ideas to help you get prepared.

Weather - it's time to start keeping track of the snow on the ground and current and future weather. My favorite one stop shopping is the NWS Snow and Avalanche page, and even a casual glance every few days will keep you up-to-date on the general early season pattern.

Avalanche Safety gear - pull it out, dust it off and start to practice. Check the batteries, send and receive functions on your beacon. Put your probe together. Thinking of up grading your beacon? Check out Beacon Reviews for info.

Also, while we're waiting for winter, save the date and join us Nov. 22nd as the Alpine Assassins AA5 Utah film premiere rolls out at the Egyptian Theater in Ogden Utah. Doors open at 6:00 and Movies will start at 7:00. Lots of door prizes, raffles, and giveaways.

Now is the time to contact us if you want to schedule a free avalanche awareness talk for your group, club, or shop.
