Avalanche Advisory
Advisory: Ogden Area Mountains Issued by Brett Kobernik for Sunday - February 22, 2015 - 7:08am
bottom line

Most terrain has a LOW avalanche danger today. A 'pockety' MODERATE danger exists in the higher very steep terrain where someone may trigger a recent drift.

current conditions

The mountains picked up a few more inches of snow on Saturday bringing totals into the 3 to 5 inche range in the Ogden area mountains. Things cleared out a bit overnight and temperatures have dropped into the single digits and low teens along the ridges. Winds have shifted to the east and are currently in the moderate speed category.

description

You will again want to anticipate finding isolated areas where a recent wind slab might release if provoked. The east winds may drift the new snow around a bit in the Ogden mountains. Very steep upper elevation terrain is where you'll find these fresh drifts most prominent.

weather

Today we'll see continued clearing with ridgetop temperatures getting into the mid teens and moderate speed easterly winds. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of the wind picking up speed today. The east winds remain with us until Tuesday and we'll have mostly clear skies with a slight warming trend through this period.
