bottom line The avalanche danger is LOW this morning but will rise to MODERATE with some new snow and wind later today. Watch for fresh drifts to form on the lee sides of the ridges and cross loaded terrain features. Dropping cornices onto fresh drifts may give an idea of how sensitive they are.

Drifting snow will create a bump in avalanche danger by creating some fresh wind slabs that may be sensitive to the weight of a person. This is a very manageable issue for those with some avalanche training and experience. They will be most pronounced on east facing terrain along the ridges but watch for cross loaded terrain features on all aspects. |

weather We're going to see a little snowfall today along with windy conditions. Snow should start later this morning and the winds will become strong from the northwest. A few inches of accumulation is possible. Temperatures get quite cold tonight with readings in the teens or perhaps single digits. Snow showers may linger into Tuesday morning with not much more accumulation expected. Things dry out for the rest of the week. |
