bottom line The overall avalanche danger is generally LOW today. It is fairly unlikely that a person will trigger an avalanche unless they are in steep, radical terrain. Continue to use safe travel protocol by only putting one person on a slope at a time and clear the runout zones.

current conditions It was a very mild night with cloud cover and ridgetop temperatures in the mid 30s. Southerly winds have bumped in speed to the moderate range with stronger speeds along the highest peaks. Cold snow remains on the highest north facing slopes. There has been some wind damage in the upper elevations where you'll find some stiff pillows and crusts. |

weather We'll have cloudy skies and ridgetop temperatures in the upper 30s today. Southwest winds will continue to increase as the day goes on. We'll see snow starting late this afternoon with a cold front moving through tonight with winds shifting to the northwest. Temperatures will drop into the teens. Most of the snow will fall overnight but we may see lingering showers through much of the day on Tuesday. We are anticipating 4 to 8 inches of snow out of this storm. |
