description

Your main concern today is going to be how the anticipated new snow behaves. Watch for any instability within the new snow as it stacks up by cutting above existing tracks looking for any cracking or shearing. Shovel Tilt Tests are good to reveal new snow instabilities as well. Keep in mind that the avalanche danger often spikes during any period of intense snowfall. Be careful not to be in confined terrain where a natural avalanche from above may clean you out if one occurs.

weather

We should see snow starting this morning and continuing for most of the day and ending this evening. Most areas will pick up 2 to 4 inches. Winds will shift to the northwest and increase into the moderate speed category. Ridgetop temperatures will remain in the mid 20s. We'll see a warming trend over the next couple of days and then another similar storm moving through Thursday night into Friday.
