bottom line

An overall MODERATE avalanche danger exists. Human triggered avalanches are possible and the consequences are fairly high if you do trigger a slab avalanche that breaks into buried weak snow. Avoid steep slopes that have both buried weak snow and any signs of being recently loaded by wind drifted snow.

As time goes on, there is less of a chance of triggering a slab avalanche that breaks into the buried persistent weak layers. Likely places that you still may find trouble are going to be where recent winds have deposited snow creating a more pronounced slab. You will need a slope of at least 35 degrees in steepness also.

Watch for fresh wind slabs along the upper elevation ridges. These will be most pronounced on the more easterly facing slopes but keep in mind that snow can get deposited on many terrain features on all different aspects due to terrain variation and localized wind effect. These wind slabs won't pose much threat on their own but if they are deposited on a slope that has buried weak sugary snow, this could be a bigger issue.

Westerly winds will be a bit gusty today along the ridges. We'll see increasing clouds and ridgetop temperatures in the upper 20s. A small disturbance will move through late today and tonight which may produce a few snow showers. Accumulations are not anticipated. Things clear out again by Wednesday morning and we're back to the dry northwest flow with mild weather through Friday. Weather models are hinting at another minor disturbance on Saturday.
