Snowbird Beacon Park
Located east of The Cliff Lodge at the back of the Batch Plant Lot, the Snowbird Rescue Training Center is a free resource for our community to practice their beacon search skills. This Training Center includes a control panel and buried transceivers across a snow field. Users will select the number of transceivers for their practice session at the control panel, before going through the steps of the rescue process—including using a beacon, activating search mode and probing for the target—then receive computer-generated feedback.
The Avalanche Rescue Training Center is available to the public, free of charge, throughout the winter thanks to funding through Wasatch Backcountry Rescue, a volunteer organization made up of snow safety professionals and their avalanche rescue dogs. It is maintained by Snowbird Mountain Guides and is part of Snowbird’s larger Avalanche Education offerings.
