Be sure to check each resort's uphill travel policies before heading out to a ski area.
Since Halloween, roughly 1–2 feet of new snow has blanketed the Wasatch Range, containing 1.0–2.40 inches of water. The storm initially came in warm, delivering wet, heavy snow with the rain/snow line hovering around 9,500 feet (mountain top). Colder air moved in Monday into Tuesday, dropping the snowline to around 8,500 feet.
Current mountain temperatures range from 25–31°F. Mount Ogden wind speed is 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 mph from the southwest.
The heavy, dense snow has done a great job improving overall coverage and building a foundation for the season. However, the snowpack remains shallow, and rocks and other early-season obstacles are still lurking just beneath the surface. It's a great start, but don't let the fresh white coat fool you.
Another storm is slated to arrive tomorrow. Nikki will have the next update as we see what this next round of weather brings.
No avalanche activity ahas been reported from the Ogden area.
