Forecast for the Moab Area Mountains

Welcome to the 2026 - 2027 winter season! October has been quite active, with an early-season snowstorm, followed by high-elevation rain and subsequently more snow. Eric and Dave will be back in action soon. For now, we are posting current observations here.

Chris Benson did a fly over of the range on October 29 and posted some great photos of snow cover. See his observation here.

Pro observer Mark White was out skiing on 10/28. He scored some high-elevation turns, but described a snowpack on the polar aspects that will be "super suspect" under any decent load. Mark reported just over a foot of snow in Talking Mountain Cirque with plenty of graupel in the most recent snow above a thin wind crust, capping off large-grained facets. Mark observed thicker wind slabs in high-elevation gullies with facets below. It's not quite game on for skiing and riding; access remains difficult with about three inches of snow at 10,000'.
