This all inclusive 3 day 2 night backcountry yurt based AIARE 1 offers an unparalleled opportunity to have an immersive experience in the iconic Castle Peak Yurt while learning the skills to manage avalanche hazard.
For 2027 we are introducing this women specific offering in hopes it opens the door for more women to enjoy this exceptional learning experience.
This course includes the use of snowmobiles to access the yurt, all meals, and N/A beverages, plus certified low ratio (1:5) instruction.
The AIARE 1 is a three-day / 24-hour introduction to avalanche hazard management.
Students can expect to develop a good grounding in how to prepare for and carry out a backcountry trip, to understand basic decision making while in the field, and to learn rescue techniques required to find and dig up a buried person (if an avalanche occurs and someone in the party is caught).
