Utah's 7th Annual Avalanche Awareness Week is Upon Us!

Avalanche Awareness Week Schedule
In 2019 the Utah Legislature passed House Bill 380, recognizing the first full week of December as Avalanche Awareness Week. Join the Utah Avalanche Center and the Division of Outdoor Recreation to celebrate the Seventh Annual Avalanche Awareness Week, from December 1st - December 6th. The goal of this week is to save lives through activities that promote avalanche awareness, education, and safety. We have a variety of events to promote avalanche safety this week. See the list of events below to find one near you!

Sugarhouse Park Kickoff Party - Beacon Practice and More
Monday, December 1st, 4:00 - 7:00 PM
Sugarhouse Park (1330 E 2100 S, Salt Lake City, UT)
This free family friendly event includes mock avalanche rescue drills for beginners and experts, first aid practice, and many partner organizations highlighting the importance of avalanche safety. Come learn how from emergency responders, search and rescue teams, avalanche rescue dogs and others. Or chat with local reps to explore the newest avalanche safety gear from our outdoor industry tents.

22nd Annual Pray for Snow Party and Fundraiser

Join the Utah Avalanche Center in Logan for the 22nd Annual Pray for Snow Party and Fundraiser on Tuesday, Dec 2nd, from 6:00-9:00 PM at The Cache to support avalanche forecasting, education, and awareness in northern Utah. There will be music from the Two-Headed Trout Band, Lucky Slice pizza, and a silent auction and opportunity drawing of donated items.

This is a great opportunity to practice using your beacon with avalanche professionals and learn how to use this free resource during the winter.

7th Annual Ogden Avalanche Backcountry Bash

The Backcountry Bash is the main fundraising event for Ogden Avalanche, and the support raised here fuels the programming you love: Backcountry 101s, the B-Street Series, trailhead beacon checkers, Know Before You Go classes, beacon clinics, and professional development and mentorship opportunities for our mountain community. Your ticket includes opportunity drawings, two slices of pizza from Lucky Slice, a beer ticket, a silent auction featuring items from local businesses, and freebies from some of our favorite community partners.
