Comments
No tracks were visible in or around the area, so assuming this was a natural that occurred toward the tail end of the storm on Tues/Wed. Some slight reloading on skiers right flank from moderate winds following that storm. Crown depth ranged from 48cm-70cm. Bed surface still has roughly 278cm in depth with pockets of weak faceted snow.
Failure occured just within the old snow on a layer of decomposing stellers and grauple above a 4F hard temp crust or wind crust. Most likely overloaded by wind loading into the bowl.
Compression tests on the skiers right flank of the crown showed easy compression failures throughout the new snow and a CT22SP at the avalanche failure layer.
