Comments
Saw and heard a couple natural avalanches in Piece of Pie today. The whole backside of Raymond went through a big avalanche cycle probably over night, the whole bowl pulled out 180 degrees, W,N and E leaving large debris piles. The slides we saw and heard happened during at a time of minor green housing, one ran off the steep rock slabs N of Piece of Pie, saw that one which seemed to be the snow from last night running on the bed surface of the bigger slide that occurred last night. The other one ran around the corner, same scenario , new snow from last night running on the bed surface from a larger slide last night. The interesting thing about this one was the earlier slide. It appeared to be a hard slab that broke on a older PWL, it ran full track and there was refrigerator sized chunks in the debris and layer a few trees down. Photos were tough but the first 2 were the slide that occurred when we were in the area the rest probably occurred over night.
