Comments
The main bowl on Rodeo had a couple of sets of ski tracks visible yesterday afternoon when the sun was still on the slope. This same slope probably slide last night or early this morning. No evidence of tracks this morning. A crack was still visible across the top of the main bowl on Rodeo. The crown was still visible on skiers left of this slope. Most of it was filled in with windblown snow. A small tree was knocked over and chunks of debris were noted down slope from the crown. It was difficult to tell if this was a cornice break or a wind loaded soft slab. I favor the later since
i didn't see much cornice formation along the ridge.
There were several slides in the Chilly Slabs seen yesterday afternoon in the S-couloir and Zero G. I also noted a half dozen slides in the steeper regions south of the Rodeo skin track. These appeared to be within the new storm snow. A small slide was noted just left of the up track on an open slope. Crown filled in with new snow but the debris was piled up against trees and brush. We noted a couple of slides north of the skin track on steeper roll overs. One had a crown that appeared to be about 16 inches thick and 50 feet wide running perhaps 80 vertical feet. I couldn't see what was happening on the upper mountain due to wind and snow. We have had an active avalanche cycle over the last couple of days in the North end of Ogden Valley.
