Toured up Beartrap today. One of our runs we decided to ski from the PCRL. Wanted to go check out if anything natural went during this storm cycle. Saw a small natural further up the ridgeline with several moderate to large cornices. Kicked small one down that just ran on its own. Saw a much larger one and a member of our group went up as we watched from an angle. A couple stomps in and a fridge size piece fell off and as it hit the slope there was a large whoompf and the whole surround slope went. Estimated crown at 18" on the slope itself. The debri field grew and gained steam as it traveled down slope. Couldn't see where it ended after the lower convexity but it went quite a ways. PCMR was called and notified. There was still a large piece of cornice remaining and 6-12" crack we found that ran for ~40ft on the ridgeline. The crack was growing in (width) as we transitioned to ski back into BT. Went back up for another run and the remaining piece hadn't moved. We tried with a few more stomps to get it to go but was unable to get anything else to drop.
