Comments
After making sure no one was at the bottom of this slope, I kicked some new snow off this cornice. Once the new snow reached the roll over, the wind slab collapsed and ran to the bottom of the slope 500 ft below generating a good-sized powder cloud at the bottom. The wind slab ran on the new snow old snow interface and propagated about 80 ft wide. From a distance, the crown appeared to be about 14 inches at its maximum and with only about 8 of new snow to work with, was evidence of significant wind loading.
