Comments
We came across this avalanche in our travels today (see first photo of most fresh looking avalanche). It appeared to be relatively fresh compared to some other natural avalanches that also occurred on this hill. We suspect the intense sun over the past few days heated the snow enough for this avalanche to fail as a wet slab. It's possible the crust/faceted snow interface from Valentine's was a player in this avalanche. We haven't seen much activity on that layer in the Ogden area. Could be SH or some other weakness that formed as well. We tried to reach the avalanche, but the terrain wouldn't let us get there to investigate.
We noticed four avalanches on this same hill.
