Comments
Small loose snow avalanche, ran maybe 100 feet. Happened sometime yesterday or this morning after the snow stopped falling. It was hard to get a picture but looked to be cornice fall triggered. Unknown if natural or human tickled.
Not enough snow to bury anyone, but went through some trees and there were some microwave sized chunks of hard snow among the debris.
Other observations:
- Noticed what appeared to be the beginnings faceting on the surface/minor surface hoar growth from about 9600ft through 8600ft. The snow 'tinkled' as we skied down.
- Flat area down below the run (~8000 ft elevation) had about an inch thick breakable crust as we were leaving at 17:00, even on the NW aspect.
