From Kamree:
Witnesses a unknown skier remote trigger two avalanches on the W/NW aspect of Brian Head Peak. Unknown the exact width and depth but both slides were significant in size and appear to have ripped to the ground.
Comments
From patrol:
Solo skier left the resort exit point and hiked up the steep terrain to the peak. They remote triggered at least two avalanches. One at least 120 ft wide, the other approx 80 ft wide, which stopped at his feet in front of him. He proceeded to skin through the debris and continue on to bootpack to the top through thin snow and rocks to ride down Thompsons, with a 30 ft cliff drop. When questioned on his decisions by patrol he said he knew he was in avalanche terrain and knew if he was caught in something that he would have died, but he was okay with that, and thinks he's a good enough rider to get out of it.
