Comments
Storm Slab avalanche cycle on East side of Cascade Ridgeline. N-SS-R2D2-3 avalanches occured in all three bowls of Bunnells, as well as Big Springs Bowls 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Did not have a view of 7 and 8, however they most likely avalanched as well. Avalanches occured near ridgelines at 9700'-10,000. on steep SE-E-NE faces on the old/new snow interface. Some stepped down into old snow below rock bands mid slope. Debris piles only ran into tracks and upper benches. There were several smaller cross loaded slopes around 8000' which ran as well. Most of these slopes are repeaters for the season. Unlike Timp and the Strawberry Ridgeline this zone had enough wind effect to create cohesion in the new light density storm snow to progegate a fracture across slope.
