Comments
This morning (April 11) at about 6:30, an avalanche of dirty snow mixed with branches (and likely rocks) came down right by the first bridge. One hiker was right by the first bridge and ran, getting away in time; our small group was one bridge higher up, and another hiker with dog was a little higher up than that. No one was carried by the avalanche, and all involved are safe. The avalanche area is wide. The snow is packed, so it was easy to cross (even just a couple of minutes later, when we felt safe enough to go down to it), but watch out for repeat avalanches. There have been at least 6 small and 2 medium snowslides up there this winter, but this was the first large slide to cover the main trail.
