Comments
Big slide probably happened last night. Very strong SW winds yesterday afternoon and evening. The debris pile was covered with a frozen rain crust and a skiff of new snow. I counted at least 6 storm layers in the crown so this broke well into old snow. Most of the crown was cross loaded and 4-6 feet deep. The crown at the very top only appeared to be about a foot deep. I'm guessing the debris pile approached 20 feet deep. This slide took out a wide swath of mature maple and oak trees. The walls of the crown were glazed with ice as was the bed surface. I'm not sure what layer failed.
