Decided to go out on a short after work tour (01-27-2023) with my partner and I. There was wet snow coming down at the trailhead and snow was sticking to our skis. There was about 3-4" of fresh new snow.

We had read avalanche reports leading up to and including yesterdays report. Our main concern was wind loading as we had noticed the wind picking up as we were skinning. We broke trail through moderately dense forested low angle terrain. While making our way up, we noted a few pockets of wind drifted snow, however, we did not experience any cracking/collapsing. Snowfall had picked up as we made our way to the ridge.

At the top of Backyard and above treeline, there were sustained 10-15 mph NNW winds carrying lots of snow. We transitioned and decided to ride down close to our skin track on a N facing untouched glade run that did not show signs of wind loading.

I took a few turns and triggered a 12" deep, 4' wide wind slab that ran for ~15'. This was a ~36° slope at 6700'. I only became aware of the avalanche due to my partner standing above.
