Snow Profile Comments
The slope was heavily wind loaded. Profile recorded in a non wind loaded spot about 100 feet from the flank.
Comments
I approached the top of this slope and triggered it from above. The collapse and cracks extended about 200 feet to one side of the slide and 100 feet to the other side. SO! Even though the slide was only about 100 feet wide, the extent of cracking told me that this snowpack could have easily produced a slide 400 feet wide or more if there had been more of the slope that was steep enough to slide. It was less than 30 degrees on either side of the flanks.
