Comments
This natural avalanche likely occurred sometime yesterday with an increase in winds from the south. It looks as though the slope naturally avalanched during the storm mid week and may have only involved new snow while this newer slide broke into buried weak faceted snow possibly from a cornice fall. Many slopes throughout the Whitney Basin avalanched naturally during the mid-week storm, these were all on north through east facing slopes.
