Snow Profile Comments
This snow profile is from an adjacent slope of similar aspect and elevation within 1000' of where we saw the crown. We dug this pit and performed tests when we felt a whumph. There was no avalanche present when we left our snow pit and when we returned for our second run we saw this crown. It was not safe to approach the crown proper to look for similarities but I am sure that this failed on the buried facets. Dimensions are approximate. It is possible that this was a remote trigger from our ski tracks, there were already 2 tracks in the ski run and tracks were at least 1000' away. This layer is SENSITIVE and not to be messed with.
