Comments
Decided to head up to pink pine today, with plans to navigate the entrance safely, see the reactions, and ski!
Once we started climbing the ridge, evidence of collapsing and cracks were found frequently. As we dropped I did a ski cut to have the slope(32*) slide about 20' till it was stopped by the trees. Once we got around the trees, two more slides were noted. One below us to our left, and one running from the ridge to the right.
The left avalanche had a 18" crown, 40', and running about 200'. Skier tracks were spotted entereing and exiting the slide path.
The right avalanche ran from the ridge, unsure on crown. It ran about 300'.
After the run we dug a pit with the results expected from our faceting base. ECTP 11.
