Comments
I triggered this shallow (6-8") soft slab on the steep lower rollover in the gully east of Second Waterfall Hollow, shortly after noon. The slide took out the entire width of the lower gully, and ran down to the flats near the doubletrack trail - about 150 vertical feet. The terrain feature at the trigger spot was quite steep, well over 40 degrees. I was able to move fairly easily to safety on skier's right.
During both climbs I had been testing small but very steep slopes, with a few instances of minor cracking and a couple coffee table-sized slabs pulling out between kick turns. I believe the sun played a role at this lower elevation. Even steep north aspects can't hide from the steep sun angle these days.
