Comments
Prior to the slide my partner and I had skied one run from the east bowl pass into silver fork and observed manageable sluffing but of not much concern. After that run we noted an increase level of snow fall and wind. We decided to skin back to the ridge and do a run down the East Bowl of sliver from near the top of Honeycomb Cliffs. We started about 200 feet below the summit on the ridge just west of the summit. I took two turns and saw the cracking. My partner noted the slab broke about 10 feet above me. I lost my balance and fell sideways into the slope and was able to dig my hands into the hard surface beneath. The slab passed smoothly over me and I barely traveled down slope. We think this slab formed that morning due to the new snow and wind in the time between our two runs.
