Accident and Rescue Summary
This is a very interesting avalanche report that includes numerous avalanches. Ultimately, two men were killed in two separate avalanches in the same area. The area was not part of the regular ski area terrain at the time of the accident. It is now within the regular ski area boundary in the John Paul Jones terrain area.
Below is a narrative of the accident from The Snowy Torrents; Avalanche Accidents in the United States 1910-1966, Dale Gallagher.
