From Mt. Baldy spotted what looks like a point release on the south face of Mt. Superior. It looks like it begins at the rocks on the top of the upper snowfield and propagated in a thin cone down the face. It looks like it jumped and continued to the lower snowfield. Hard to tell from a distance but 'crown' height of about 6"? I also observed a few small point release type failures in the faceted sugar along the side of main chute. Looks like today's heat got to some of the facety junk.
Forecaster Note: There were a number of heat related class 1 loose snow avalanches that occurred mainly on Thursday. I viewed a few from a distance but didn't get close enough to take a real good look, however, it did appear that they gouged into the facets. This activity, of course, is a thing of the past and our focus remains on the buried facets which will pose the greatest threat to backcountry travelers over the next few days.
