A solo splitboarder was going for his second run off of mount baldy for the day. Approached via the east baldy traverse. On the approach upward there was some wumpfing on the solar aspects. (It was too warm already I should have chose a different option). At 11:25am I did a ski cut initially right below the wyssen. On my second turn a slab popped underneath me. Carried me about 20-30 feet before I got to the skiers right to a safe point, watching the rest sluff down the chute. Some parts where the slab propagated were about waist high. It seemed about R1D1 but not completely sure. If it carried me all the way I would have went into a meat grinder for sure.
