- Parley's Summit- 7,000' northeast aspect, failed to ground 200' wide with rollerballs noted on flanks of avalanche failed on wet depth hoar
- Argenta-north aspect, 2' deep x 30' wide wind slabs reported
- Sound of Music- east aspect, naturals in Steinburg's
- Murdock-northeast aspect, wind loaded and failing on buried rain crust 8" below new snow
- Brighton- north aspects, new snow avalanches failing at old/new interface. " no failure into old snow"
- Solitude- numerous 8"-10" deep new snow avalanches
- Alta-11,000' Sugarloaf, northeast aspect, "huge avalanche failed into November weak layer" 4'-8' deep x 400' wide rain into lake. "Blew mud off the bottom of the lake" Third largest slide Howie has seen on that path. Rock shot with avalauncher took out trees ( 2/10/1999)
- Mill B and Broads- north-east aspects, 2000' vertical
- Snowbird-11,000' northwest aspect, wind loaded failed on depth hoar
Forecaster Comments: From what I can gather there was a rain event in early February, 1999 that started with wet slab activity failing on damp depth hoar and facets. Then there are notes of a buried rain crust with avalanches running on this crust. Link to historic weather data from Alta Collins Study Plot below.
