Was trying to summit Santiago ridge in mineral basin and the skin track we were on stopped about half way up. We started putting a new skin track in attempting to gain the shoulder of moonlight. Made a poor decision trying to put the skin track up one part of a steep slope next to the main run and it failed on a thin rock and, propagated about 30-45 feet and about 12” deep to a crust layer. No riders were caught.
