Avalanche Advisory
Advisory: Skyline Area Mountains Issued by Brett Kobernik for Monday - March 7, 2016 - 6:50am
bottom line

The overall avalanche danger is MODERATE today. Watch for fresh wind drifts along the ridgelines. The new snow and wind may have added enough weight to make the old weak snow near the ground reactive on those slopes that have avalanched earlier this season. The most dangerous slopes are those upper elevation that face north through east approaching 40 degrees in steepness.

current conditions

Pre-frontal snowfall did not perform as anticipated on Sunday. There were only scattered short lived bursts of snow with gusty southwest wind which did transport some snow onto the northeast slopes. However, the cold front and post frontal snowfall produced 8 to 10 inches of new snow. Temperatures dipped into the mid to low 20s along the ridges and the wind has shifted around to the northwest and is a little gusty right now on the ridges..
