Headed to Broads Fork today for a look at what happened during the last few storms, I was up there a few weeks ago and the coverage was meager, skied one on Bonkers and had to walk out from the bottom of the run. The coverage has improved but starting at 6000ft still requires a lot of walking, hardly any snow down low, increasing to a few feet at 8000ft. The drainage as expected was riddled with crowns and debris from last week’s storms, the last cold storm improved coverage immensely seeing that it was more of a mid canyon storm. There was large slides noted in Bonkers, The Diving Board, East Twin, Sunrise Peak and Dromedary. The debris on Bonkers and The DB ran about 3/4 track. There also was a glide avalanche that look brand new on lookers right of the DB. Many glide cracks are opening up on the rock slab on Bonkers and the DB. The snow had a bit of a wind skin on the E facing due to a couple days of E, NE winds. Not a whole lot of hazard in the terrain covered but a lot of debris on the main lines. I’d be weary of traveling below the rock slabs if the temperatures continue to increase. Photos: Debris on the DB, widening glide cracks and a small glide avalanche that appears to be recent.
