Our party was considering skiing the south east facing runs off of Gobbler's, lots of tracks on the slope. We were unsure how much snow the slope held before the CERC, so we figured we could quickly dig a pit to see.
HS 110cm, CERC at 30cm from the ground. Faceted grains at the ground appeared slightly wet, and could be shaped into a snowball. Directly under the CERC, however, we found 3cm or so dry facets.
I didn't bring my snow saw today, so I attempted to delicately isolate a column with my shovel and ski pole. Column exhibited planar collapse on isolation, directly under the crust.
