Early in the afternoon we experienced moderate snow showers (and graupel) above 8,000ft. Wind was blowing N by NE around 10-20mph in the high open terrain.

Total snow depth was 100 to 140 cm's (40 to 55") depending on location. New snow accumulations ranged from 10 to 20" (trailhead to the high terrain).

We dug a snow pit near whiskey hill on a NE aspect at 8,500ft which scored ECTN24 at 65cm's (20' below the surface). It was a non planer fracture on the rain crust we fell between new years and Christmas. This layer is wide spread across the range.
