We toured up Mineral to see how things looked. Coverage was not good below 7400', as mentioned in a post yesterday. It improved dramatically from there. We were surprised at how much surface hoar had formed, with widespread large crystals (1-2 cm? some smaller, some bigger) covering most areas where we skied. There was very little wind, and it had started snowing lightly when we left. This could be a problem if it gets buried. No photos or videos but imagine in your head what loud pow sounds like. It was like that. There were also several slides (D1.5 ish) that had come down several of the obvious slide paths on the ridge above Moonlight, GB No, etc. They looked very fresh, like they had slid this morning, maybe from wind? We didn't investigate and couldn't see the crowns because of the start zones were out of sight.
