Light snowfall in the early afternoon - small diameter graupel with a rain/snow line of around 6000' by the time I was leaving at 4pm. Unfortunately greybird, flatlight, and lowering cloud deck hampered visibility of the avalanche paths...

About a foot of "settled" snow from the Jan 4th storm. The quotations marks denote how much settling actually takes place when the storm snow is all graupel (!). There's about 60cm of snow on the ground at 8100' and it's a good foundation of crusts and graupel - supportable, lots of body to keep you above most obstacles...and fast and surfy. This is in sharp contrast to many early seasons in Provo where that 2' of snow is all facets and not supportable at all. Photo of snow structure; profile below -
