Comments

Went to the Monitors this morning to take a look around. Trail conditions were manageable and easier then anticipated. Still broke trail through a fair amount of brush on the off aspects. The rain crust was very supportable through this location, and I would have a hard time thinking a riders weight could break into the old facted snow. I could see in some places the new snow was completely blown off, and down to the crust. I did dig a few hasty pits, and found the knife hard rain crust, that had frozen the facets below 3 to 5" thick. There were DRY facets under the crust and on the ground, that gave me some pause, but I believe it would take a extreme load to activate them in this one location. On all the steeper runs I was bottom feeding, and riding the crust, but the lower angle had perfect powder and density.
