Snow Characteristics Comments
Below 8000' snow surface was a breakable MF crust which made for a challenging egress.
At about 8500' the MF crust had transitioned to a firm new snow layer. Near ridgeline snow surface felt wind-packed in places.

Comments
Snow pit on NE @ 8500' was a mixed bag of MF and other crusts, including a vertical ice column mid pack. I suspect this elevation band saw multiple transitions from rain to snow over the past several storms. ECT did not produce any propagating failures.
