This observation from the south end of the range is mainly a photo dump to show overall coverage. There is definitely less snow on the south end than in the middle or north groups. I traveled mostly on solar aspects, which averaged 6 to 10 inches deep. Firm melt-freeze crusts were the saving grace that allowed for travel with such shallow depth. Polar aspects across the drainage looked very shallow, and many rocks were visible. Check out the photo of the east face of South Mt. Also, the South Mt. Glades looked super bony. If you are curious about skiing in the south group, it may be best to wait for more snow. Honestly, it's pretty desperate up there, and I followed a very thin strip of snow to get up to the alpine today.
