Comments
Took the skis for a walk up to Mount Marsell and encountered a lot of variability in the snowpack. I experienced no less than a dozen collapses in the snowpack in the skin track. These collapses were relatively small and I noticed them more in shaded terrain above 10,500 feet. Additionally, I saw some surface hoar developing in more protected terrain. Sheltered terrain was the preferred skiing, as I found a breakable crust on open NW facing terrain at 11,300 feet. While low tide conditions certainly exist, it was great to poke around on a beautiful day.
