Snow Characteristics Comments

Snow surface was a combination of melt-freeze crust on shady aspects and damp on south-west facing slopes. On west facing slopes I was sinking in the top 2" with skis on and on north-east facing it was a mostly supportable crust. I observed roller balls on northwest-west-south facing slopes up to 9,200'

Photo of roller balls on northwest facing slope at 9,200'.

Comments

This snowpit was adjacent to an avalanche that Trent remotely triggered on 12/6/2025. The snowpack here was still weak and I had failure with extended column tests on facets near the ground. This shows that sensitivity has decreased ( most stable snowpack) since Trent was able to trigger this avalanche last weekend. The facets (PWL) in this location were dry.
