Snow Characteristics Comments

20 to 40 cms of new snow depending on where you looked. HS of 35cms on SE slopes. HS of 50 cms on NW with 10cms of facets near the ground @ 9800'. Was expecting more cracking and collapsing in this area but assuming the high winds was transporting snow further down slope/canyon and had yet to form a cohesive slab where I traveled despite the 30-40cms of new snow. Would expect this to change as storm continues/snow settles.

Red Flags Comments
Plenty of cracking & collapsing just along the banks of the Guardsman road up to the pass with cracks shooting 100-200+ feet. Didn't have to get to close to the banks to send cracks shooting on the banks above. Plenty of poor structure in the quick hands pits I dug on on E & NW on 9800'.
