Snow Characteristics Comments
The recent storm from Saturday and Sunday delivered enough to aid in traveling around, not skiing that is... The good news is that in many areas where the pack is 1-2' deep, we are able to be somewhat supported and move around. Im still hesitant to point any tips up or downhill, but it's nice to be able to get out in the mountains.

Problem
Wind Drifted Snow
Problem #1 Comments
Notice the textured surface on the ridge where wind-drifted snow has been deposited on the leeward side of the slope.
There is plenty of snow to transport, and the wind has been putting in an effort. Although not widespread, pockets of wind-drifted snow sit atop weak sugary snow from earlier in the month, and this is my greatest concern. At treeline and above, on the north half of the compass I would not let my guard down and expect to find a drift or two that could catch you off guard and is reactive to your additional weight as a rider.
Snow Profile
Comments
Generally, the snowpack is pretty weak overall, comprised of new snow and old facets, with a few crusts mixed in down low. This will be a tricky setup once we begin to put some water on it.
Winds were filling in my skinner after only about 30 minutes, and any snow available in the wind zone was getting blown for a ride.
The Living Room off Reids looking awfully thin, although it looks as if a few folks have ventured onwards and upwards. Heads-up, this is the terrain where I would expect to find our wind slab hazard.
